Care home visiting and Anne’s Law

There are new rules on care home visiting. These rules are known as Anne’s Law.

As part of these rules, care homes must allow and support visiting unless there is a serious risk to life, health or wellbeing. Even then, care homes must still support visiting for those nearing the end of their life or when stopping visits would cause greater harm than the risks involved.

More information about Anne’s Law

NHS inform has further information about visiting care homes in an outbreak.

The information was last updated on: 08th April 2026
